How do your favorite celebrities and models get their picture-perfect smiles? Porcelain veneers are the secret for many A-listers, but that doesn’t mean you have to be rich and famous to get them. Porcelain veneers can improve your smile, and you might be surprised to find out that they’re more affordable than you think. Here’s what you need to know about veneers.
What Are Porcelain Veneers?
Dental veneers are thin shells that fit over your teeth to cover over imperfections. There are a number of different types of veneers available, but porcelain veneers are considered the gold standard because they’re created custom for you and they’re made with a highly realistic material that mimics the natural luster of tooth enamel.
If you have one or more of the following complaints about your smile, porcelain veneers may be a good option for you:
- Your teeth are yellowed, discolored, or stained.
- You grind your teeth so much that they've worn down.
- You have gaps between some of your teeth.
- You have teeth that are shaped irregularly or uneven in size.
- You have chipped or cracked teeth.
- You have minor misalignments, but you don’t want to get braces.
Some patients only need a single veneer, while others opt for a full set to completely makeover their smile.
What Is the Process to Get Veneers?
We'll talk about your goals and whether porcelain veneers are suitable for you during your consultation. To help us create custom veneers that fit your facial features and proportions, we take photographs, x-rays, and impressions.
We'll then create temporary veneers with the molds we've made. This will allow you to decide if you like what you see or if you want to make changes before your permanent veneers are made. We'll shave a small amount of enamel off your teeth before applying these temporary veneers.
When you come back for your permanent veneers, your teeth will be cleaned and etched so the porcelain can adhere securely. Each veneer will be carefully bonded onto the tooth, then cured with a specialized light. We may need to make minor modifications on occasion, but after that, you'll be on your way to enjoying your new smile!
Porcelain veneers can last 15 to 20 years with proper oral hygiene and maintenance. Brush for two minutes twice a day, floss at least once a day, and visit our office every six months for preventive care.
How Much Do Porcelain Veneers Cost?
The price of porcelain veneers will vary depending on your specific needs, which we'll discuss when you come in for your consultation. We have financing options available, which makes veneers affordable no matter what your budget is.
When you come in for a consultation, we'll talk about other treatments that might be able to achieve similar outcomes, too. Teeth whitening and dental bonding can improve your smile for less money, but it’s important to keep in mind that these treatments don’t last nearly as long as veneers.
